Soto-gake
(Outer hook)

"Uke is placed in a very marked unbalanced lateral right posture at the outset of the movement by appropriate action of Tori's arms.Tori's right arm strongly lifts Uke's left shoulder whilst his left arm pulls Uke's right arm to the outside and downwards so as to fix Uke's right foot on the ground and to raise his left leg.Tori advances his left foot on the median axis in relation to Uke's feet or even to the left of the axis and hooks with his left leg Uke's left leg so that the popliteal hollows of their legs over lap. Tori must sufficiently separate his legs to avoid striking Uke's achilles tendon with his left heel. The throw should be more lateral than that of the movement involved in ko-soto-gake and the movement of Tori' s wrists to lift and pull Uke, still more accentuated."
