Sangaku-juji-gatame
(triangular cross armlock)

"Sangaku translated means triangular and refers to the shape of the legs around the arm and head. The technique is similar to "pillow-juji-gatame" with Tori's left leg resting underneath Uke's head. However instead of trapping Uke's left arm and shoulder Tori's right leg wraps directly round Uke's neck. To secure the lock Tori places his right foot behind his left knee and lifts his hips upwards. If you find it difficult to put your right foot behind your left knee, a slight adjustment with your hips is necessary. First turn your hips towards Uke's head. This should enable you to make sufficient contact. Now turn your hips back square and you should find that a strangle and armlock are applied simultaneously."
