Obi-otoshi
(belt drop)
"Although this hand technique can hardly be said to satisfy
the requirements of general elegance and is rarely demonstrated
in friendly contest, it may commend itself to a judoka with exceptionally
strong arms and if brought off successfully in a genuine rough
and tumble would be calculated to deprive your opponent of an
interest in the subsequent proceedings. An opening for this throw
may occur if Uke shows a tendancy to protrude his lower abdomen
when you pull him, perhaps because his waist and loins are insufficiently
lowered. At this juncture with your right hand seize the right
front of Uke's belt with an under grip and with a slight lifting
motion draw him towards your stomach while at the same time with
your left hand you dash off Uke's right hand holding your left
lapel and from your opponents right armpit turn the lower part
of your body towards his rear so that his buttocks are brought
into contact with your stomach and the front corner of your ribs.
Place your left foot to the back of Uke's left heel and pass your
left arm accross Uke's front (from his right breast to his left
wrist). In this posture you should be holding Uke under your left
armpit. Then with your stomach slightly press and lift his buttocks
until your body is somewhat tilted to the rear and supported by
your left hip or waist. With the combined force of your upper
body and your arms drop Uke heavily to the rear."
