Nami-juji-jime
(normal front strangle)

"As this is a lock on the carotal arteries, it should cause no unpleasant constriction of the throat. If it causes discomfort it is being applied incorrectly.
Sit astride Uke with your knees pressing well up into his armpits in order to reduce the effectiveness of his arms.
Take as deep a hold as possible with your right hand, palm down, and the same with your left.
As the palms of the hands are downward, it is the little finger cutting edges which attack Uke's arteries.
Press firmly but not vigerously against Uke's neck, and very slowly slide your hands back towards you.
This last action should have the effect of moving the protcting muscles forward to expose the arteries that you are attacking. Maintain the pressure and lean forward between your elbows. Your forarms close like scissors. this should bring about imediate surrender."
