Hiza-guruma
(knee wheel)
"This is a similar throw to tsuri-komi-ashi. It can
be made against an opponent who is adopting a more defensive posture, holding
you out with stiff arms or who successfully jumps over your attempts
at tsuri-komi-ashi.
Uke either jumps over an attempted tsuri-kom-ashi,landing with
his knee bent or avoiding your attack bends both knees and holds
you away with his arms.
Persuade Uke to advance his right leg and as he does so draw him
forward and upward with your arms and step a little to your right
with your right foot, turning it to your left as you do so. Alternatively,
should Uke not advance his right foot, step back a little to your
right with your right foot turning it to your left as you do so
and drawing him forward and upward with your hands. In either
case your right knee should be bent. Continue to pull Uke upward
and to his front, removing your left foot from the mat and while
twisting backwards to your right place the sole of your left foot
on Uke's shin just below Uke's right knee. Still pulling, continue
to twist back and to the right, drawing Uke forward onto your
left foot. Uke will be thrown over your left foot by his own momentum."
