Hineri-jime
(twisting strangle)

"This strangle does strictly have a name, but it is sometimes referred to by high grade japanese teachers as Hineri-jime or twisting strangle. The strangle is unusual since, at the start of it, the arms do not effect the opponents neck but the attacker can scissors the neck between his forearms by twisting his body. Sometimes , if the opponent twists, he can put the strangle on himself. Since there is no direct threat at the start of the strangle it is often fairly easy to put the hands into possition.
Lie on your back with Uke between your legs. Reach up with your right hand and catch hold of Uke's collar (by his left ear), with your fingers on the inside of the jacket and thumb on the outside. Reach up with your left hand and hold Uke's collar by his right ear, this time with your thumb inside the collar and your fingers on the outside. The arms do not cross as in juji-jime. Uke will try to cross your legs to gain a hold down. In this case offer him little resistance and allow him to cross over your right thigh. As he crosses over your thigh and moves round to your right side roll to your left shoulder and scissor your two forearms together. Bring the right one under the left and up under Uke's chin. To apply preasure, drive your left forearm up into Uke's throat and pull down with your left hand. Take care to keep your hands near your shoulders. Some times Uke will dive over to escape the strangle and will reverse the possition, nevertheless, the possition can be persued in this reversed possition."
