WELCOME to Greenbank Judo Club Southport
Below you will find information regarding the club and our practices. We hope you will find this useful, but should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We are a British Judo Association club and as such, train to competition standard. We are the only Judo club in Sefton to achieve Sefton Councils Active Club Award via Club Accreditation. We were also amongst the first six Judo Clubs in the UK to achieve Club Accreditation through the BJA and Sport England. To achieve the high standard required to receive the awards, we have been assessed in several key areas. These include our coaching standards, child protection, first aid, safety and general club administration skills. Parents and carers can therefore be assured that their child is in a safe, friendly environment. Our coaches and helpers regularly attend Child Protection and First Aid courses, and are all Criminal Record Bureau checked.

We teach competition Judo to all ages and abilities and our training times are above.

As a BJA club we are obliged to inform you that the BJA operate a ‘No licence, No Judo’ policy. Training without a licence offers no Insurance cover for either the unlicenced player or his opponent. A four week trial period enables students to practice Judo without the need for a licence. A licence form is attached, and should be forwarded to the BJA after your four week trial period. Introductory and recreational licences are available, but these will not enable students to grade or compete. A full licence enables students to grade via the coloured belt system and also enter local and national competitions.

Suits can be purchased from the club, at wholesale prices. A wide range of suits are available, including coloured suits, and Adidas branded suits. However, please bear in mind that only white/natural suits are allowed at competitions.
Prices start at £14.50, and a £10 deposit is required per suit. The balance is payable on delivery. An order is usually placed with the wholesaler on the first Monday of the month – please see notice board for exact details.

We close on two occasions through the year – Good Friday, and for two weeks at Christmas. We remain open during all school holidays.Greenbank Judo Club is a BJA club. The BJA are the national governing body for judo in England. Judo is really good for improving self confidence, balance and strength.
